Botanical Art Course Reunion Island

An exciting new venue is offered to the international circuit of botanical art
courses – the tropical Indian Ocean Island of Reunion, 9 – 12 July 2019.

The four-day course covering drawing and watercolour techniques will be held at
Mascarin, Jardin Botanique de la RĂ©union, Saint-Leu. Participating artists will have
the opportunity to work from the local flora collected from the botanical garden.
The course will be run by Gillian Condy (MA RCA) with the assistance of Julie
Ah-Fa, who can assist with the French speaking participants.

Gillian recently retired as the resident botanical artist of the National Herbarium in
Pretoria, South Africa, where she was employed for 35 years. She has been an
active freelance artist, participating in exhibitions worldwide, and has artworks in
various corporate collections, including the Highgrove, Transylvanian and Sydney
Florilegiums and the Shirley Sherwood Collection. She is one of the founding
members of the Botanical Artists Association of Southern Africa (BAASA) who
celebrate their 20th birthday this year. She has remained actively involved and is
the current Gauteng chair. She enjoys teaching and has run classes for SANBI,
BAASA and at the Cavern Berg Resort in the Drakensburg for over 16 years.

Julie is a botanical artist from Reunion Island living in South Africa. She exhibited
previously with BAASA and was awarded a Bronze Medal for her first
participation at the 2013 Kirstenbosch Biennale. She did a solo exhibition at
Mascarin last year.
